It so happened that my favorite shockproof flash drive with a capacity of 4 gigabytes stopped working. And no specialized utilities could restore it.
I really liked the design of this flash drive. I spent a lot of time looking in stores exactly the same, but to no avail. But while I was running around the shops, I had the idea to transfer the insides from another flash drive to my dead body. When I returned home, the first thing I took apart my dead flash drive and appreciated the features of mounting its board in the case. Assessing the situation, I concluded that the board from a conventional retractable flash drive can fit in this case. Immediately, a donor was purchased, which turned out to be a transcend flash drive with a capacity of 8 gigabytes.
Having disassembled a new USB flash drive, I unsoldered the USB connector from its board and installed it in a new case. It fit, and there was little space left. Trying on to this place, I cut off a part with a USB connector from the board of the old flash drive using metal scissors. Gently soldering the wires of the USB connectors of the old flash drive with the pads of the board of the new flash drive, I received the following contraction:
It remains only to check and collect everything. Carefully inserting the fragile design into the computer, I heard from the speakers the familiar sound of connecting a new device. The flash drive was determined and opened, which means that I did not damage anything and everything was soldered correctly. After that, everything was neatly packed into the case and assembled. Such an operation can be done with many flash drives. Many manufacturers have the same type of case, and in many cases they don’t even have to solder anything., And in some cases it’s also necessary to glue the case. The main thing is to carefully disassemble and assemble everything, without confusing anything. That's how I got a flash drive with a capacity of 8 gigabytes in my favorite case with the inscription 4 GB. Only my friends were interested for some time how I increased the volume of my flash drive.
