If an old roulette is lying around in a workshop or garage, you can update it in a very simple way, using tools that are easy to find in almost any male "corner".
For the work you will need the following materials: sheet metal (whether it be non-ferrous metal or galvanized steel), metal bars made of brass, solder and solder flux, a piece of leather strap and superglue.
Of the tools you will need pliers, a file, scissors for metal, a pair of compasses, a grinder (grinder), a band saw (or a jigsaw), a punch, a gas burner, a hammer, a needle and thread.
The main stages of work
First of all, you need to disassemble the old roulette, trying to do everything carefully so that the spring does not pop out. Then we measure the diameter of the case of the old roulette. We transfer the dimensions using a compass to a brass blank.
Cut two identical circles and then grind them (after gluing them with superglue first). After grinding, we get two sides of the future roulette.
Next, cut out the strip, and process it on a grinding machine. We cut the bar from brass and saw it along the length, but not to the very end, leaving the edge for the spring to hook.
We set the bar in the center of the circle, and with the help of a gas burner and solder, solder it. Next, on the outside of the circle, solder a strip of metal, giving it the desired shape using pliers.
We grind the edges of the strip with a file. The twisting / untwisting mechanism is installed on a bar, followed by spring fixing.
We bend the small brass bar into a half-ring, and after processing the soldered surface with a file, solder it to the back side of the slot.
The strap can be made from a piece of leather, for comfortable wearing on the belt of our tape measure. Well, then we polish everything with GOI paste to a shine.
