You won’t surprise anyone with ordinary wooden axes today - this is, so to speak, a classic. But decorative lining made of fabric looks very unusual and original. In this case, the master makes such overlays for the metal handle of the ax.

First of all, you need to make a form in which flaps of fabric will be glued. And for this you can use any material that is at hand: boards, plywood or chipboard.

First, you need to take measurements from the handle of the ax, and then already use them to file blanks for the mold. Sawn boards are connected to the screws. The result is a regular box. Also "included" is another cover.

The main stages of work

The next step is to cut the flaps of fabric of suitable sizes so that they fit easily into the mold. As a template, you can use the box lid.

Then the master puts waterproof paper at the bottom of the form, and puts a piece of fabric on top. Next, you need to impregnate the fabric with epoxy diluted with hardener, then again put the cloth flap. And so to the very top of the form.

The last piece of fabric is covered with paper and pressed against the lid. Then all this needs to be firmly fixed until the epoxy has solidified completely.

At the last stage of the work, it will be necessary to cut two pads for the handle from the glued workpiece, and then process them “until ready”. Well, then the pads are attached to the handle.

Details on how to make decorative lining of fabric for an ax handle can be found in the video on the website.
