The main stages of work
To make a hinged step, you will need a piece of a rectangular plate 25-30 cm long, 12-15 cm wide and about 1 mm thick. If it was not possible to find a suitable plate thickness, you can use two steel plates of smaller thickness, which must be welded together.
A segment of a strip of metal along with two triangular stops is welded to the edge of the base of the “step” at right angles. To the upper part of the strip you need to weld a hook made of a steel rod of circular cross section.
At the last stage of work, we make notches on the surface of the plate (so that the foot does not accidentally slip), then with the help of a grinder we clean the places of welds, after which the finished product can be painted. We glue a protective “bumper” along the entire edge of the base so as not to scratch the varnished coating.
