When replacing the disc brake pads, you have to compress the caliper, various objects are used, including mounting and large screwdrivers. It is not always convenient to work with an improvised tool, the piston is distorted and does not fit well back, there is still the possibility of accidentally breaking the boot.

The ideal pressure on the piston of the brake mechanism will be uniform pressure across its entire plane, for this a special home-made device was invented. To create a device, a pair of old blocks will do.

A hole is made in the center of one of the blocks and a nut is welded. Now placing the modified block in the brake mechanism with the help of a long bolt you can "crush" the piston.

For an even distribution of pressure, it is better to use a second block, in which the bolt will abut. To facilitate the work, a round log or nuts can be welded to the head of the bolt, then it will be screwed in by hands.
